GOLDEN RULES FOR LEADERSHIP

Leadership is a much talked about concept, and come to think of it, what’s most tough about leading is the art of delegation and being able to effectively harness the potential of the employees. Here are golden rules that would help you become a more impactful leader:

Be Honest- Whatever the situation may be, be honest towards your employees, your work, family and most importantly, yourself!

Create transparency in the organization- Employees appreciate transparency. Favouritism or biases usually annoy other employees and create a harsh feeling in their minds.

Be approachable- Create a rapport with your employees that they find it convenient to approach you in every situation. This helps to create an emotional bond with your employees.

Be open to changes/ ideas – Do not be conservative. Be open to changes/ ideas suggested by others or your employees. This is the way you can evolve and develop.

Don’t be too critical- Learn to refuse a suggestion in a polite and positive manner. Don’t be critical. Your refusal to someone’s idea should definitely be supported by a valid reason.

Reward and appreciate- People always get motivated to work more hard if they get small rewards and appreciation for their work.

Manage your brand well- People look up to good leaders when they are able to manage their image well in the industry. Make good use of social media, deliver your ideas, be a part of any leadership speakers bureau, be in touch with the leadership team of other corporates, deliver speeches, talks and participate in social media interactions around leadership and corporate issues or perhaps start your own blog.

Step up at time crisis- Whatsoever the crisis may be, it is important you start taking effective steps to manage the crisis. Instead of creating panic, just calm down and figure out what can be done. Later, sit back with the team and see what exactly went wrong that the crisis happened.
